Tonight, we kick off a week full of fashion shows, parties and other events dedicated to the hottest swim wear designers who've made their way onto the runways at the Raleigh Hotel.
I am particularly excited because it is the first time in almost four years that I've been home to experience the excitement.
It is also the first time I'm heading to every event as a professional in the fashion industry.
While Swim Week is all about fun in the sun, it is also a major event and a great opportunity to network. I'll be attending every show, which means tons of running around, chatting, mingling and picture taking.
Like any other fashion week, there is barely any time to rest. Our schedules are packed and our hand bags must be filled with the necessities that will get us through the day.
I've put together a list of items I will be carrying on me at all times. You never know who you're going to meet, what you're going to see and if there will be food at the next party, so I'm helping you make sure you're totally prepared for any situation.
Miami is hot and humidity is no joke, especially when your makeup starts to run. Face wipes are now sold in basically every dollar section in mini form, perfect for a quick fix on the go.
Yes to Cucumbers, Target, $2.99
While many shows happen after the sun sets, it's always fun to feel like an editor and throw on some shade, front row or not.
Cat Eyes, Nasty Gal, $40
Like I said, makeup tends to run in the heat. Be prepared to touch up between events. A compact foundation will save your life.
#nofilter, Delias.com, $4.99
When you start feeling exhausted, a bright shade of lipstick helps wake up your look. You may be sleepy, but your makeup says otherwise.
Candy Yum Yum, MAC, $15
Sweating is inevitable. Splurge on your favorite perfume in a roll-on form. You'll be so happy when you're heading to the after parties after a long day in the sun.
diptyque, Liberty.co.uk, $55
You never know who is going to serve food. I've found myself starving at midnight after a long day of shows, so make sure you keep up your energy and your health. A protein bar will go a long way when it comes to hunger.
Luna Bar, Walmart
Carrying a charger around is easy, finding an outlet is hard. If you still haven't invested in a charging case, it's time to do so.
DVF, Shopbop, $95
Business Card Holder
It is all about networking during fashion week. Don't be the person who's run out of business cards, you never know who you're going to meet.
Jimmy Choo, Saks, $245
I love high heels more than anyone, but I do know what it's like to feel the pain of a stiletto after standing in them for hours. Save yourself the blisters and grab a great pair of flatforms from the ZARA sale.
A fun and old school way to capture the fun of Swim Week. You can't delete any pictures and they're fun to look back at after you've had them developed.
The front camera on your iPhone never does your face justice, trust me.
Notebook & Pen
Take notes and write down inspiration, looks you love, etc. It looks better than typing away on your phone and you can go back and check out everything you wrote down later.
Everyone needs mints in their bags and gum isn't cute to chew at a high fashion event.
Miami has unpredictable weather. Save your hair and your outfit from the random rain shower that may happen while you're walking to your car.
A Great Handbag
Of course, every great girl needs a great handbag.
Invest in a bag that is comfortable to carry and can hold all of your items.
